Shine Program 2026

AN ACCESSIBLE TOUR

SHINE is a guided visit to Takapuna Winter Lights outside of the main opening times designed specifically for our
guests with diverse needs and enables accessibility for all. This was our third year running the SHINE programme

Two 45 minute guided tours for approximately 30+ guests, plus their whanau and supporters.
Each tour was based on a consistent narrative describing the event, why it happens, some insights from the event lead and the value of community, arts and culture.
We adapted the delivery of this narrative to suit the needs of the group, we also had photo opportunities.

We ran two tours over two days, Friday and Saturday from 4-5pm.
Wrap the tour up with an ice cream at Duck Island

Takapuna Winter Lights had partnered up with Yes Disability and PHAB, who lead the tours, with the TWL team.

In 2026, SHINE Tours became an even more important part of the Takapuna Winter Lights experience, creating greater opportunities for our members to participate, connect and enjoy the event with confidence. It was fantastic to see accessibility and inclusion thoughtfully embedded from the outset, with members bringing along friends, flatmates and siblings, and many gaining the confidence to return independently later in the week. People even traveled from Warkworth to take part, highlighting the impact of the programme. We are incredibly proud to support an experience where everyone feels welcome and included, and we can’t wait to see SHINE continue to grow next year.
